The Very Green Gardener is seeking a new gardener to join our team. This role was filled by a temp worker but we have decided to move forward and look for a new, permanent fulltimer. Because we provide high quality work and have recently hired, we are only able to consider applicants who have at least a year's experience gardening (the field doesn't matter, the knowledge on 'what to do' does).

We are an organic, environmentally friendly gardening business. We work on several high-profile gardens around Wellington and have a passion for all things gardening and plants.

Our gardeners go to residences in the Wellington City (Broadmeadows-Strathmore) and do weekly, fortnightly or monthly gardening maintenance.

What you will do on a daily basis:

 Mowing and weed eating

 Weeding

 Trimming, pruning

 Composting, planting and pest management

 Garden planning

 Driving a manual vehicle

 Working with a team or alone (depending on the day)

 Keeping a record of the day's work.

This role is for a keen gardener. You do need to be able to identify some plants, have a general understanding of gardening and work from a list. You will still be fully trained to work as an organic, permaculture based professional gardener, but that background knowledge is vital.

Standards are high and enthusiasm and attention to detail are more important than experience. We aren't on the power tools from morning to night; there's a lot of hand- pulling weeds and secateur use so the ideal candidate will be:

 Fit and healthy, or motivated to get fit fast.

 Interesting in gardening

 A full, clean drivers licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle

 Able to follow written instructions, to work without supervision, has lots of

initiative and confidence

 Trustworthy and reliable

 Positive, professional and presentable (you will often meet clients when

working).

If you are experienced or would like to transfer your apprenticeship over to us, we would love to hear from you, and this will be reflected in your pay and perks.

Hours of work:

Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm

We provide:

 Full training

 All tools, PPE etc, required for the job

 Rain gear, boots, clothing as required

 You will have access to a work vehicle which you can use to get to and from work if desired
