We're looking for reliable, switched-on Quality Team Members to join our Hastings Packhouse for the 2026 season

In this fixed-term role, you'll be part of the team responsible for checking the quality of our apples before they head to market. You'll be inspecting fruit, collecting data, and helping us maintain the high standards Mr Apple is known for.

This is a hands-on role that suits someone who's detail-focused, physically fit, and keen to get stuck in. We have both day and night shifts available, so there's flexibility to suit your schedule.

What you'll be doing:

As a Quality Team Member, you'll work closely with the Quality Team Leader and other departments to make sure our fruit meets export and local market standards. You'll be:

  • Inspecting export fruit for pests, cosmetic defects, and spoilage

  • Conducting online testing (pressure, brix, internal disorders)

  • Using our Quality Application (MAQA) to record accurate data

  • Collecting and labelling samples correctly

  • Following hygiene and food safety procedures

  • Supporting waste reduction and sustainability initiatives

  • Keeping your work area clean and safe

  • Staying up to date with the daily production plan

What you'll bring:

We're looking for people who have:

  • Proven reliability and punctuality – we need people we can count on

  • A good level of fitness as this a physical role involving, lifting, bending, twisting and walking up and down stairs

  • Flexible to work in a variety of environments including noisy areas like the packhouse and cool areas like the cool store

  • Tech-capable and confident with computers

  • Detail-oriented, able to spot defects and accurately record data

  • A team player willing to support others and contribute to a positive team environment

  • Hygiene-conscious and no jewellery is to be worn while working

  • Motivated and keen to get stuck in and take pride in a job well done

  • Availability for the full season – from late January through to August
