Due to high demand we are currently expanding our team and looking for experienced child and adolescent-focused psychologists in Wellington City or Wellington suburbs. This can also be a hybrid in-person and virtual via our secure digital delivery platform.

The Child Psychology Service is a nationwide service with practitioner support and mental health at the heart of what we do.

Working with The Child Psychology Service is easy, supportive, ethical, safe, and fun. Our founding principle is 'do what you love around the things that you love' and we live by it because happy and well-supported psychologists do great work. If you are already in private practice or looking to move into private practice but need the support and flexibility of a ready-made structure, resources and a team around you TCPS can help.

At The Child Psychology Service, we offer work that suits your skills, a supportive and experienced team, flexibility, regular supervision and effective admin & finance processes so you can focus on your work and, professional resources. It's essentially all of the benefits of working within an organisation but with the flexibility of working for yourself.

If you are already in private practice or looking to move into private practice but need the support and flexibility of a team around you TCPS can help.

We are open to expressions of interest from practitioners who wish to work part-time or full-time with the flexibility of being able to organise around your other commitments.

If you have experience in supporting children, young people, their families and their schools to:

  • understand and manage anxiety
  • understand and remove the barriers to learning
  • build emotional regulation skills
  • foster brain-based, respectful, and gentle parenting skills
  • build resilience and wellbeing for the whole family system

and you:

  • have solid assessment (consultation, and standardised such as WISC V, WIAT, SRS-2, Brown EF/AS), formulation, and intervention skills (such as ACT, CBT, DBT, EMDR)
  • can communicate in an empathetic and compassionate manner
  • are computer literate (as our practice is fully digitised)
  • work well in a team and can take initiative
  • are able to communicate what you need from us as a practitioner in order to thrive in your role
  • have a strengths-based lens
  • work in a culturally responsive way that values Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the cultural diversity of Aotearoa
