Purpose of the Role

The Construction Worker (Falsework / Formwork / Temporary Works) is responsible for assisting qualified carpenters and site supervisors with the erection, adjustment and removal of temporary formwork and falsework systems used on BUCO construction sites. This position plays a key part in supporting structural works and ensuring that all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

(These duties must appear in the Employment Agreement to align with Immigration NZ)

  • Erect, brace and dismantle formwork, falsework and temporary support structures under supervision of qualified staff.
  • Assist with pouring and finishing of concrete elements.
  • Measure, cut and prepare timber and metal formwork components as instructed.
  • Install temporary props, shoring, bracing and edge protection systems.
  • Operate hand tools and small plant equipment safely and in accordance with BUCO procedures.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas and assist in site tidiness and material handling.
  • Comply with Health & Safety legislation and company requirements at all times, including toolbox meetings and reporting hazards.
  • Follow instructions from site foremen and contribute positively to team productivity and site culture.

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 1–2 years of construction experience (formwork or falsework preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow instructions on a busy construction site.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and construction methods.
  • Physically fit, reliable and a team player with a good work ethic.
  • Current NZ driver licence preferred.
  • Trade certificate, Site Safe passport or LBP status advantageous but not essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.60 – $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
