Accountant / Book Keeper– Clarke Group Property & Finance

Location: Viaduct Harbour, Auckland

Type: Full-time

Clarke Group is an established property development and finance group with projects across Auckland and Queenstown, and a growing portfolio of residential developments and lending operations. We're looking for an experienced Accountant to support our CFO and wider finance team as we continue to scale.

The Role

You'll play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting, reporting, and financial control across several entities. Working closely with the CFO, you'll help maintain accurate records, prepare management accounts, support audits, and assist with project feasibilities and funding applications. This is a hands-on role with strong exposure to both development and finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and reconciliations across group entities
  • Support in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, GST, and payroll compliance
  • Assist with project feasibility and property development accounting
  • Support annual financial statements and liaise with external accountants and auditors
  • Continuous process improvement across finance systems and reporting

About You

  • Minimum 3 years' accounting experience in New Zealand
  • CA/CPA qualified or working toward qualification
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of NZ tax and accounting standards
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero
  • Property or construction industry experience highly regarded
  • Proactive, commercially minded, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
