About the Role

The Senior Advisor role sits in the Major Projects team within the Protection Directorate of the National Public Health Service (NPHS).

We are seeking a strong Senior Advisor with a technical writing, process and policy background to join our team. In this role, you will be help shape the business environment for our projects to succeed. You will enable regional and national standardisation of practice and help bring clarity to users of our technology systems. Your work will significantly impact public health outcomes across New Zealand and help to ensure that our new systems enable equitable outcomes.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You'll be a practical detail focused individual who understands how to put yourself in the end users shoes. You will be a skilled writer who can shape information for various end users. You will demonstrate a keenness to learn about the technology world and its application to the public health business. You'll bring a deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, ensuring equitable outcomes and culturally responsive practices in all areas of your work.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A background in high level technical writing, including policy, knowledge articles, business processes, papers, minutes and reports
• A good understanding of the framing of on the ground process into documentation targeted at new and existing users of technology systems.
• A passion for realising the benefits of technology supported public health
• The ability to align process and policy allowing the provision of practical advise on outcomes that deliver value for end users
• An understand or willingness to develop understanding of privacy considerations across health technology systems including the application of the Privacy Act 2020
• The ability to adeptly build and maintain relationships with complex stakeholder groups, managing their expectations, and keeping them informed
• Proven experience working with Māori and Pacific stakeholders to create equitable outcomes
• The ability to perform systematic discovery, and identify gaps in process or policy to identify areas for alignment or improvement
