We're expanding our team and looking for an experienced Senior People Consultant who thrives on partnering with leaders to deliver practical, people-centred change.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a confident HR professional who loves variety, challenge, and meaningful client relationships. You'll partner with business leaders across a wide range of sectors to design and implement HR strategies that drive performance, wellbeing, and engagement. You'll work alongside a close-knit and experienced team of consultants who combine empathy, expertise, and commercial insight to help organisations get the best from their people.

Your work will include:

  • Leading change management and restructure processes, ensuring fairness, transparency, and positive outcomes for all involved.
  • Managing complex employment relations matters — including investigations, disciplinary processes, performance management, and mediation support.
  • Providing trusted advice to senior leaders on workforce planning, culture, and leadership alignment.
  • Facilitating workshops and developing frameworks to support organisational development, engagement, and resilience.
  • Partnering with clients to design and deliver strategic HR initiatives that align people, purpose, and performance.

You'll have the autonomy to shape solutions, build trusted client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and innovation of EQ Consultants' services.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Senior HR Advisor, Business Partner, or Consultant, ideally across multiple industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employment relations and change management, including restructures, investigations, or complex case work.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law and HR best practice.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism, empathy, and commercial awareness.
  • A growth mindset and genuine passion for helping people and organisations succeed.
