As such, we are currently working on some exciting exciting projects in Gisborne with more in the pipeline. We need an experienced Leading Hand to join our team in Gisborne now and help us move forward. This will be a fixed contract.

The Role

We are seeking skilled Leading Hand Carpenters to take charge on-site and support our delivery of exciting new projects. You'll combine your trade expertise with proven leadership ability, guiding carpentry teams while working hands-on to achieve high-quality results. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate carpentry teams on-site, ensuring daily construction activities run smoothly
  • Work hands-on across a range of projects, setting the standard for workmanship and quality
  • Mentor and support apprentices and junior staff, helping to grow the next generation of builders
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers, and other trades to achieve project milestones
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and compliance
  • Represent PGC in a professional, positive manner at all times

Qualifications & experience

  • Trade Qualified Carpenter
  • Minimum 3 years' New Zealand experience, including team leadership
  • LBP or willingness to work towards achieving it (strong advantage)
  • Own tools and reliable transport
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol, and health screening
