About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Carpenter Apprentice / Hammerhand to join our team through Blokhaus in Palmerston North. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their carpentry career or with hands-on site experience who wants to grow their skills while working alongside experienced carpenters on a variety of projects.

You will assist with day-to-day carpentry tasks on residential and commercial builds, gaining practical experience and exposure to different stages of construction.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting qualified carpenters with residential and commercial building projects
  • Carrying out cladding, pre-line work, and soffits installation
  • Supporting framing, formwork, and general carpentry tasks
  • Measuring, cutting, and preparing materials accurately
  • Using hand and power tools safely and correctly
  • Helping with site setup, pack-down, and material handling
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe worksite
  • Following all health and safety requirements
  • Supporting the team to deliver projects efficiently and to a high standard

What We're Looking For

  • Previous site experience as a hammerhand or carpentry apprentice
  • Builder apprentice (Year 2–3)
  • Must have experience in cladding, residential building, pre-line work, and soffits
  • Own basic hand and power tools
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to take direction and work well within a team
  • Good time management and reliability
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transport (preferred)
