Description of Role:
Wanganui East Club is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and community-focused Club Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of their vibrant club. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, social environment, has a strong understanding of hospitality and recreational operations, and is committed to delivering an exceptional member experience.
Key duties and responsibilities:
o Operational Management: Oversee all daily operations, including hospitality, gaming, sports, social activities, and facility maintenance and security.
o Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of staff, ensuring high levels of performance and employee satisfaction, recruit, train and schedule shifts, conduct performance reviews.
o Financial Oversight: Manage financial performance, Xero, payroll, budgeting, and reporting to the club's board.
o Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including liquor licensing, gaming, employment, and health and safety.
o Member Relations and Marketing: Develop and implement strategies to grow membership and community engagement.
o Digital Marketing: Support with marketing (e.g. social media scheduling, content generation, updating website information, digital marketing campaigns, offline promotions).
o Event Coordination: Coordinate events, competitions, and promotional activities that enhance the club's profile and reputation.
o Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for members, guests, and stakeholders, fostering positive relationships.
Technical competencies:
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 365, CRMs and accounting software (ideally Xero)
o Experience in club management software an advantage
o Previous payroll and budgetary experience
o Proven financial administration skills (including analysis) and experience (minimum 3 years)
o Prior experience in the hospitality, leisure, or recreation sector essential
o Relevant certifications are a plus - Managers' Certificate, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), First Aid
o Desirable / Advantageous: Gaming / TAB License Knowledge (understanding compliance and operational requirements for club gaming facilities), Health & Safety Certification – NZQA or equivalent, Hospitality Management / Business Management / Event Management Qualification

o Strong attention to detail, accuracy, discretion (will be handling confidential member files), highly organised, flexible, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), ability to prioritise tasks, time management skills, efficient work ethic and willingness to learn essential
o Must bring a customer-centric attitude and genuinely enjoy interacting with people to ensure their experience is a positive one
o Honesty, loyalty, and integrity essential
o Must be a self-starter and have a great get-on-with-it attitude
o Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required
