Mō tēnei mahi | About this job
As a Kaiako – Te Kunenga o te Ao Tikanga (Kaupae 4),
you'll be responsible for delivering our Level 4 programme that explores the
depth of āhuatanga Māori and tikanga Māori. Your role will involve planning and
delivering high-quality teaching, engaging and retaining tauira, and upholding
the tikanga values that underpin our approach to education.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and support tauira into the programme
- Develop and deliver culturally responsive lesson
plans and learning activities - Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning
environment based on kaupapa Māori principles - Assess, track, and report tauira progress using our
systems (e.g., 101 SISS) - Participate in noho, wānanga, field trips, and
other programme-related activities - Maintain professional development, including te reo
Māori proficiency and kaiako training - Ensure all teaching, assessment and moderation meet
NZQA and TWoA standards
This is a Permanent,
Full-time position, based out of the Papaiōea campus.
Some flexibility will be required to work some weekends and evenings.
Mōu | About you
- Diploma in Mātauranga Māori (Level 5) or
related qualification - Adult Teaching qualification (Level 5) or
equivalent - NZQA Assessment Practice credentials (or equivalent
experience) - Fluency in te reo Māori and a deep
understanding of tikanga Māori - At least 3 years' experience teaching adults (or
demonstrated potential) - Minimum 4 years' experience immersed in Te Ao Māori
- Full NZ driver licence (Class 1)
As a
kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural
activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and
tikanga) will be key.
Please note: This position is classed as a Core Worker under the Vulnerable
Children's Act and will need to pass a safety check, inclusive of Police
Vetting, under the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014.
