Based in beautiful Whanganui, Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation who offers a range of health and wellbeing services for whānau in the Whanganui region and surrounding districts.

Toiora Whānau has a range of health and social supports available to whānau. All our services are voluntary and embraces a Whānau Ora approach that sees whānau in the driver's seat and leading the way towards positive outcomes for their whānau. Our team walk alongside whānau to navigate pathways in areas such as health, education, housing, employment, improved standards of living and cultural connections.

About the role:

The key to Whānau Ora is an inclusive approach that embeds the organisations Kaupapa Ake principles of practice and values. This role primarily focuses on the strengths and capability of the whānau, growing whānau connections, supporting the development of whānau leadership and enhancing best outcomes for whānau.  This role has a strong focus and drive in the prevention and self-management of long term conditions and supporting whānau to lead healthy lifestyles.

Ngā Tini Whetū is a whānau-centred programme, designed to support families and improve the safety and wellbeing of tamariki, especially in their early life. It is a transformative three-year programme, guiding our whānau towards brighter futures. Over the course of three years, we support 10 māmā and their whānau, walking alongside them as they set and achieve goals, develop personalised plans, and receive guidance throughout the first 1,000 days of pēpē's life. Utilising a Mātauranga Māori approach, the programme acknowledges the crucial role of a healthy, nurturing environment for whānau to thrive.

The Kaitūruki - Ngā Tini Whetū role will assist and empower whānau to reach their own goals and aspirations,

  • Advocacy, brokerage, coaching, assisting whānau to enhance and develop their own skills and knowledge to build on their strengths and confidence.
  • Connect whānau with services that will assist them to reach their goals and aspirations.
