Building Compliance Technician

We are looking for an experienced, customer-service focused Building Compliance Technician to join our team at Aotea Electric Southern Ltd. Our company is successful and well established in Dunedin, with a great base of loyal, existing customers and are we are still taking on new work regularly.
Key Tasks/Accountabilities
- To be the on-site point of contact for the customer, while keeping the Building Compliance Team Leader fully informed.
Visual and functional inspections of specified systems, including but not limited to:
Fire alarm systems
- Emergency lighting systems
- Fire and/or smoke doors and separations
- Signage for facilitating evacuation
- Egress and corridors for escape paths
- Ensuring a high level of health and safety for all staff and contracts.
- Minor fire alarm install work and rectify defects.
- Servicing of hand-held firefighting equipment.
- Record the outcome of the inspections accurately and at the time.
- Identify and record details of any defects, directly related to the BWOF and/or the building assets in general.
Work Experience/Qualifications/Skills
- IQP registration preferred but not required.
- NZ Drivers Licence (full).
- Understanding of Building regulations and experience of Fire Reports (preferred but not essential).
- 5+ years' experience as a Building Compliance technician or in a related trade.
