Are you passionate about building safety and compliance?  SGS Building Compliance Services is looking for an experienced Independent Qualified Person (IQP) to join our Christchurch team, covering the Canterbury region.

What You'll Be Doing

You will play a vital role in ensuring commercial and residential buildings meet New Zealand's building codes and regulations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections of commercial and residential buildings for compliance.
  • Performing Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting service work.
  • Identifying non-compliance issues and preparing detailed remediation reports.
  • Collaborating with building owners, property managers, and contractors to ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Staying current with building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections and compliance activities.
  • Providing expert advice to clients on building compliance requirements.

We're seeking a qualified professional with:

  • IQP registration ideally covering:

  • SS2 Fire Alarm Systems

  • SS4 Emergency Lighting Systems
  • SS7 Backflow Devices
  • SS9 Mechanical Ventilation Systems
  • SS11 Fume Cupboards
  • SS14 Signs
  • SS15 Passive Fire and Smoke Separations
  • 3+ years of experience in building compliance or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of the NZ Building Code and relevant regulations.
  • A current NZ driver's licence and willingness to travel across Canterbury.
