Our Special Steels Penrose site on Great South Road is the centre for round steel and tooling grade materials and we are currently on the lookout for a proactive and detail-driven Inventory Controller to join our dynamic team.  You will provide integral support and communication to the Warehouse and off-site storage facilities.

Reporting to the Inventory Manager, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end inventory management process at our site. Your focus will be on maintaining stock accuracy, supporting service delivery to our customers, and managing stock movements across both on-site and off-site locations.

Your duties include:

  • Managing and maintaining accurate inventory records across multiple product lines.
  • Accountable for monthly stocktakes, rolling cycle counts, and ensuring accurate reconciliations.
  • Champion the day-to-day management of key inventory categories.
  • Liaison between the Warehouse, Sales, Dispatch and Supply teams.
  • Effectively manage any returns, damages or obsolete stock and material claims.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and maintenance with a strong focus on health and safety.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • 3-5 years inventory management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Tech-savvy with proven proficiency in MS Office, Excel and Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems for inventory and data management.
  • Strong attention to detail with experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • A proactive problem-solver and critical thinker who demonstrates resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoys working in a diverse team culture.
  • Be comfortable in a Warehousing environment.
