We have a 12-month fixed term opportunity for a Senior Epidemiology Analyst to join our Health Security team. You'll work collaboratively alongside the Epidemiology, Public Health, and Data and Informatics teams to deliver a seamless, joined up service.
In this role, you'll monitor disease trends, investigate outbreaks, analyse and interpret surveillance data from multiple sources and help to prepare epidemiological and health surveillance reports which inform key health sector organisations (including the Ministry of Health, the Public Health Agency, Health New Zealand) and the public.
This is an opportunity to enhance and enable our public health preparedness, outbreak detection and emergency response capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you'll have a mix of the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in science, epidemiology, statistics, mathematics or public health; or working experience in an applied public health setting.
- Experience with programming languages (R, SQL or Python).
- The ability to analyse health information and complex datasets, coupled with experience interpreting and evaluating technical epidemiological data.
- Experience preparing and presenting scientific information to a range of audiences and in a variety of formats.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- A willingness to work as a member of a team, supportive of other team members and focused on achieving team objectives.
Experience working on communicable diseases, in analysing and interpreting surveillance data, or identifying and interpreting disease trends and emerging hazards would be desirable.
