We're on the lookout for an experienced Senior Journalist to join our The Post and Sundays team based in Auckland or Wellington. This role offers an excellent chance to demonstrate your expertise and contribute to our mission of enhancing the well-being of Aotearoa by telling stories across New Zealand's fastest growing subscriber news website, ; as well as The Post newspaper, and The Sunday Star-Times.

On a Day-to-day Basis, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Producing and delivering precise, compelling, and well-presented news coverage.
  • Establishing and nurturing reliable connections to uncover exclusive stories.
  • Ensuring our coverage consistently outpaces our competitors in all aspects.
  • Leveraging social media platforms, including Neighbourly and other third-party tools, to engage with the community and expand our audience.
  • Innovating new storytelling approaches for stories already in the mainstream media.

This role is fast-paced with each day offering new challenges. To excel in this position, you'll need:

  • Proficiency in journalism skills, encompassing writing, self-editing, photography, and basic videography.
  • Self-starter mentality, capable of working independently.
  • The ability to report on local governance and transform it into content that resonates with our audience.
  • Exceptional time management skills, allowing you to produce multiple stories daily.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in journalism or a related field.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment.
