This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic and visionary Director of Advancement to lead its development programmes. This senior leadership role will be central to strengthening the School's culture of philanthropy, engaging with its Grammar community, and driving strategic initiatives that secure the School's future.
Reporting to the Headmaster, the Director of Advancement will oversee all aspects of the School's advancement & development function, including fundraising, alumni relations, communications, and major events. This role will lead a team of six and will collaborate closely with internal and external
stakeholders to deliver on the School's strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing the School's advancement and fundraising strategy in alignment with its long-term vision.
- Leading and mentoring the Advancement team to achieve excellence in donor engagement, communications, and event management.
- Building and nurturing strong relationships with Old Boys, parents, benefactors, and the wider community.
- Overseeing major School and community events that foster engagement and pride in the Grammar tradition.
- Managing capital campaigns and other fundraising initiatives to support facilities, scholarships, and programme development.

You are a strategic thinker, and an inspiring people leader, who thrives on relationship-building and delivering measurable outcomes. With a proven record in advancement, fundraising, and external relations—ideally in the education, non-profit, or corporate sector—you will bring:
- Proven leadership in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and achieving financial goals.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the skills to inspire and guide others.
- Strong strategic and operational planning capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience planning and executing major events and campaigns.
- A deep appreciation for Auckland Grammar School's heritage and values, and a commitment to advancing its mission.
