The Opportunity
We're looking for an Intermediate-level Security Consultant to strengthen the security of Gallagher Security's products and development processes. Reporting to the Application Security Lead, you will enable our teams to understand, manage, and address risks, perform security and penetration testing, and embed security-first practices across our products.
This role plays an important part in implementing Gallagher Security's cyber security processes, supporting teams across the division, and contributing to Gallagher's thought leadership in product cybersecurity.
We currently have one opening for this role, but we may consider additional hires in the near future without re-advertising.
In this role you will:
- Apply security reviews, threat models, and best practices to support Solution Delivery teams.
- Perform penetration testing, vulnerability research, and moderate complexity assessments.
- Support internal teams and customers with security guidance and consulting.
- Contribute to risk management, mitigation strategies, and ongoing cybersecurity awareness.
- Assist with documentation, external communications, and representation in cybersecurity communities.
What "GREAT" looks like
- A proactive, collaborative problem solver who can turn security insights into clear, actionable guidance.
- Someone who communicates complex technical concepts in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A team player who contributes to a culture of learning, improvement, and shared responsibility for security.
- Someone who embodies Gallagher's values - curiosity, creativity, trust, respect, and growth - and believes in the impact of in-person connection.
The Fit
You bring a strong foundation in cybersecurity, an analytical mindset, and the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and business teams.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in computing, cybersecurity, risk management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in agile environments with Developers, Testers, and Product Owners.
- Exposure to application security testing, Windows, Linux, network topologies, and risk platforms.
- Excellent communication, time management, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Vulnerability and threat management experience, understanding of cryptography principles.
- Technical understanding of PCs, operating systems, networks, and virtualisation.
- Security-related certifications (e.g., CC, CEH, CompTIA Security+, TCM Security PJPT/PNPT, AWS, Azure) are a definite plus.
Why Gallagher?
You'll join a high-performing, supportive team that knows how to deliver meaningful outcomes while enjoying the journey. This role offers the opportunity to influence product security across a global organisation and contribute to the safety and resilience of solutions trusted around the world.
We also offer:
- A competitive salary and annual bonuses
- Enjoy a hybrid setup with three days in the office, flexibility when needed, and hours that work around your life
- Life and Disability Insurance and KiwiSaver on top
