Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand IHC Group Full time

Message from the CEO Andrew Crisp

"We are entering an exciting time in the evolution of the organisation. This is a chance to join a great organisation making meaningful impact on the lives of New Zealanders.

We seek highly capable and value-driven individuals who will join the executive team to champion this next chapter. You will work at the nexus of vision and execution, ensuring that our historic values - dignity, fairness, inclusion, self‑advocacy, and mana - continue to guide us even as we adapt to changing policy environments, funding models, and community expectations. Your leadership will help bring coherence, energy, and strategic clarity to our many programmes and subsidiaries, and to galvanise internal and external stakeholders around shared purpose.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead in an organisation with deep roots, strong reputation, and a renewed ambition. As an executive, you will be entrusted to safeguard what has come before, while helping shape what comes next."

The Role

IHC owns and manages one of Aotearoa's most important social housing and community property portfolios. As the organisation enters a new strategic phase, we are seeking a Chief Property Officer (CPO) to lead the stewardship, investment, and performance of this substantial national portfolio.

Your Role

The CPO leads long-term property strategy, asset management, infrastructure planning, development, acquisitions, disposals, leasing, facilities management, and resilience planning. You will ensure IHC's properties remain safe, sustainable, compliant, and fit-for-purpose for the people and communities they serve.

Key Focus Areas

  • Develop and deliver IHC's long-term property and asset management strategy
  • Lead capital projects, maintenance programmes, lifecycle planning, and resilience initiatives
  • Oversee acquisitions, leasing, disposals, and property administration
  • Manage property-related risk, compliance, and insurance, including seismic and environmental risk
  • Build strong relationships with councils, developers, contractors, and regulators

About You

You will bring senior experience managing large, complex property portfolios, alongside expertise in asset management, capital planning, development, and regulatory compliance. You are commercially astute, strategically minded, and capable of navigating risk and complexity in a values-driven environment.
