Lake Taupō Hospice employs 32 dedicated staff (full and part-time) and is supported by an amazing team of approximately 250 volunteers. We deliver essential palliative care services, including specialist nursing, family and bereavement support, personal care, equipment loans, education, and patient programs. With 70% of our funding generated by our retail outlets, Taupō and Tūrangi Hospice Shops are true community destinations.

What You'll Do:

  • Be responsible for running either of the Taupō Hospice Shops:

o   Ensure the shop remains well stocked with a high standard of goods.

o   Ensure goods are displayed attractively to maximize sales and donations.

o   Oversee the organisation, sorting and pricing of incoming donations promptly.

·       Maintain daily cash register, ensuring the start of day float is accurate and performing end of day cash ups.

·       Work with Goods Inwards departments and Depot Coordinators with the receiving and distributing of goods.

·       Have an eye for high end goods and what their worth is.

·       Identify any health and safety risks and work with the ROM and team to eliminate or mitigate these risks.

·       Provide coaching and support for volunteer staff on all aspects of shop operations, including donation collection, customer service, product knowledge, stock management and health and safety.

·       Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring volunteers and staff feel supported in their roles.

What We're Looking For:

·       Ability to remain adaptable and flexible, with sound organisation skills.

·       Ability to coach and support volunteer staff, creating a productive and positive working environment.

·       Basic understanding of cash handling and financial reconciliation process.

·       Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.

·       High attention for detail and proven analytic skills.

·       Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with a range of individuals including volunteers and customers.

·       Ability to or ability to develop skills to manage difficult conversations and situations with customers.

·       Willingness to take on additional tasks or changes in responsibilities as needed.
