With strong relationships throughout Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taupō and a healthy pipeline of work, Contech is now seeking a Project Manager/Contracts Manager to support regional growth through strong client engagement and new opportunities.
About the Role
This is a key regional role responsible for delivering a portfolio of structural and civil remediation projects across the Waikato/BOP/Taupō regions. Joining another Contracts Manager already based in the region, you'll manage everything from scoping, pricing and client engagement through to delivery, subcontractor management, reporting and commercial performance.
Working independently day-to-day, you'll be trusted to work with autonomy while staying connected with Contech's Waikato and Auckland-based teams.
Projects typically include:
• Bridge repairs and culvert works
• Structural concrete remediation and strengthening
• Seismic strengthening using FRP and post-tensioning systems
• Council infrastructure repairs
• Water/wastewater and utility-based structural upgrades
This is a hands-on role well suited to someone who enjoys ownership, variety and building long-term client relationships. You will play a key part in identifying new work, nurturing repeat business and supporting Contech's future growth in the region. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of structural and civil projects across the region.
Scope, price and review new work, collaborating with the wider Contech team. - Build, strengthen and expand client relationships with councils, NZTA, utilities, industrial and commercial clients.
- Identify new opportunities and contribute to Business Development activities across the region.
- Coordinate planning, methodology development, project management and logistics.
- Lead specialist crews and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality delivery.
- Manage budgets, variations, progress claims and commercial reporting.
- Ensure all H&S, quality and compliance standards are met.
- Act as Contech's local representative with credibility and technical understanding.
- Support long-term regional growth through proactive client engagement.
About You
You're an experienced Project Manager / Contracts Manager with strong technical knowledge in civil, structural or concrete-related work. You enjoy working independently, thrive on building relationships and take pride in delivering high-quality, profitable projects. You'll bring:
- Proven experience delivering civil, structural, infrastructure or concrete remediation projects.
- Strong technical understanding of concrete, reinforced structures, seismic/FRP or specialist repair work.
- Ability to scope, price, estimate and manage projects from concept through to completion.
- Commercial acumen and confidence managing budgets, risks, claims and variations.
- Experience working with councils, NZTA or commercial/industrial clients.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and build credibility.
- Confidence in developing new business through trusted relationships and industry networks.
- Be locally based with strong industry connections.
- Adaptability, organisation and comfort working independently without a local office.
- A tertiary engineering qualification or similar is preferred.
