People & Culture Business Partner
Be part of our transformation
Now is an exciting time to join
Tāmaki Health
. As Aotearoa's largest privately owned primary healthcare provider, we're on a journey to modernise how we support our people. With new systems and fresh leadership in place, we're evolving our People & Culture function from transactional to truly strategic, enabling our teams to do their best work for communities across New Zealand.
We're looking for a
People & Culture Business Partner
who will act as a trusted advisor to our leaders, helping to lift capability, performance, and culture across our network of clinics. You'll support around
50+ clinics (circa 1200 people)
, building trusted relationships, influencing at all levels, and driving initiatives that make a real difference.
Why this role matters
This role is at the heart of how we enable our people to thrive. You'll work closely with leaders to align people strategies with business goals — providing expert guidance and practical solutions across the full employee lifecycle.
From workforce planning and talent development to engagement, ER, and organisational development, you'll help leaders anticipate needs, make informed decisions, and build high-performing teams.
This is a true partnering role, one that combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You'll be trusted to lead strategic conversations, coach leaders, and bring more value to their functions than purely transactional HR.
What you'll be doing
- Partnering with leaders across 50+ clinics to understand their objectives and deliver people strategies that drive performance, engagement, and capability.
- Embedding yourself into the business, taking time to understand what drives it, and helping shift the focus from reactive ER to proactive people solutions.
- Providing expert advice and coaching across ER, leadership development, performance management, and organisational development.
- Engaging constructively with unions — setting up regular meetings, supporting collective bargaining, and helping leaders proactively prepare for negotiations.
- Leading and supporting succession and talent planning initiatives that identify and grow future leaders.
- Supporting and coaching leaders to build capability, maturity, and confidence in managing people matters independently.
- Partnering with the wider P&C and L&D teams to deliver proactive, data-informed, and system-driven solutions (we use Oracle — you'll be comfortable upskilling others to use it).
What success looks like
- Strong, trusted relationships with leaders who see you as a genuine business partner.
- Increased leader capability and confidence in managing people matters.
- Proactive, not reactive, engagement with unions and ER issues.
- Tangible feedback from the business on the value and influence you bring.
- Efficient, practical solutions that balance compliance with common sense.
What we're looking for
You'll be a confident, relationship-focused HR professional who enjoys variety, connection, and impact. You bring both the curiosity to understand the business and the confidence to influence it.
- Proven HR generalist, advisory or business partnering experience including Talent Acquisition, ideally across complex or multi-site environments.
- Confidence working with unions or collective agreements.
- Skilled at coaching, building capability, and supporting performance improvement.
- Ability to balance strategic influence with hands-on delivery.
- Pragmatic, commercially aware, and comfortable working with a mix of mature and developing leaders.
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
- Comfortable with systems (Oracle experience a plus) and keen to help others upskill.
- Experience in healthcare is not essential — what matters is confidence engaging with clinical leaders and a passion for enabling those who care for our communities.
What's on offer
- Salary:
Competitive Package - Benefits:
Free GP consultations for you and your whānau at Tāmaki clinics, professional development opportunities, and free parking (first come, first served). - Flexibility:
One day working from home, flexible start/finish times. - Travel:
Around 20% travel to clinics (mainly Auckland, occasional visits to Christchurch and Whangārei). - Start:
Mid–end of January 2026.
Why join Tāmaki Health?
We're the team behind Local Doctors and White Cross, with more than 50 clinics delivering accessible care to communities across Aotearoa.
Our People & Culture team is close-knit, purpose-driven, and focused on enabling real impact. You'll work alongside two experienced HRBPs and a supportive Head of OD & Business Partnering, who's known for her forward-thinking approach and commitment to growth.
If you're ready to step into a role where you can influence, coach, and shape meaningful change, and where every day contributes to community wellbeing — we'd love to hear from you.
