Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
An exciting career opportunity exists for an experienced midwifery professional to join our innovative and progressive team within the School of Acute & Primary Health. We invite applications from passionate educators committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, honouring development, student success, and advancing midwifery education and research.
You will contribute to the delivery, coordination and ongoing enhancement of our undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery programmes, ensuring learning occurs within a Te Tiriti-honouring framework. You will also engage in research activities that strengthen the faculty's research culture.
Ngā haepapa matua | Key Responsibilities
Included in the duties will be:
- Facilitating high-quality teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery programmes
- Modelling best clinical, teaching and research practice
- Supporting, inspiring and mentoring student achievement
- Contributing to curriculum design, assessment and review
- Actively participating in research aligned to the faculty's priorities
- Demonstrating excellent communication, academic writing, organisational and IT skills
- Embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into teaching, learning and research practice
Ko wai koe | About you
You will bring an undergraduate qualification in health or science, a strong midwifery clinical background, and confident academic writing skills. You will hold, or be committed to completing, a tertiary teaching qualification and demonstrate a genuine commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will work well collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment and bring a clear passion for midwifery education and future workforce development.
The ideal candidate will:
- A minimum undergraduate qualification in health or science
- A strong and credible midwifery clinical background
- A relevant teaching qualification, or a commitment to completing a tertiary teaching certificate
- Linguistically sophisticated academic writing skills
- A demonstrated commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- The ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment
- A passion for midwifery education and future workforce development
