Why This Role?
As our inaugural Chief Commercial Officer, you'll report directly to the CEO and play a pivotal role in driving WIT's long-term sustainability, partnership strategy, revenue growth, and commercial capability. You will develop and execute an integrated commercial strategy that strengthens our service offerings, enhances financial resilience, and deepens our relationships across government, community, iwi, and sector partners.
Overseeing contracts, funding pipelines, commercial performance, strategic partnerships, business development, marketing and brand, you'll design commercial models that enable WIT to scale impact, diversify revenue, and deliver measurable value for whānau. This is your chance to innovate, influence, and build commercial excellence in an organisation grounded in purpose.
What You'll Do
• Lead WIT's commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with our values and mission.
• Build and manage strategic partnerships across government, funders, and community sectors.
• Oversee contract negotiations, renewals and performance to ensure strong and sustainable outcomes.
• Develop new service and funding models that support growth, diversification, and long-term viability.
• Strengthen WIT's brand, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
• Drive market insights, competitor analysis, and service portfolio optimisation.
• Lead commercial planning, revenue forecasting, and financial performance initiatives.
• Embed commercial discipline, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
About You
You are a commercially astute, strategic, and purpose-driven leader with:
• 10+ years' experience in commercial leadership, business development, or strategic partnerships.
• Proven ability to design and operationalise commercial strategies in complex, service-based environments.
• Strong experience in contract negotiation, commissioning, and relationship management.
• Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and commercial modelling.
• Skill in market insight generation, growth strategy, and value proposition development.
• Collaborative, influential, and outcomes-focused leadership capabilities.
• An authentic alignment with WIT's values of integrity, compassion, and innovation.
