About the role

We are seeking an exceptional Commis Chef to join our team at the Cotton Candy in the vibrant heart of Mount Eden, Auckland. As Commis Chef, you will be responsible for creating and delivering delicious, high-quality meals that reflect our commitment to fresh and seasonal produce. This is a full-time position, and you will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation as a leading dining destination in the local community. Paid training available for committed individuals.

What you'll be doing

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and effective workflows
  • Developing and refining our menu to showcase seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen
  • Mentoring and training kitchen staff to uphold our culinary excellence
  • Collaborating with the management team to plan and execute the effective service
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and implementing new ideas to enhance the dining experience
  • Stock and inventory management

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in commercial kitchen or Level 4 qualification or higher with at least 6 months of proven experience in the commercial kitchen.
  • Proven track record of creating and delivering innovative, high-quality seasonal menus
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills to motivate and develop kitchen staff
  • Adaptable and creative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and a commitment to sustainability
