SCHOOLS' LIAISON OFFICE | TARI TAKAWAENGA KURA
DIVISION OF EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENT | TE RINGA TORO
The role | Te mahi
This is a wonderful opportunity for a coordinator to join the University of Otago's Schools' Liaison team. The role is based on campus in our friendly and collegial Ōtepoti–Dunedin office.
You will provide administrative support for two Dunedin-based Liaison Officers, assisting with travel arrangements and coordinating regional events. In addition, you will manage our Campus Tour programme, coordinating tours and managing student tour guides. Otago's Campus Tours accommodate prospective students and their whānau, as well as school groups visiting the University of Otago.
In your role, you will provide a front-facing point of contact for the public, interacting with prospective students, whānau, teachers, and other Otago staff. You will communicate directly with secondary school staff and students, organising appointments and fielding enquiries effectively, and ensuring that their needs are met appropriately.
You will work closely with the two other coordinators in the team (Auckland- and Wellington-based) to coordinate dissemination of information and marketing collateral to our offices, schools, and students, as well as provide administrative support for our on-campus programmes. You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders such as school career advisers and University staff. The role has capacity for some travel within Aotearoa New Zealand to support Schools' Liaison events.
Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
• Relevant administration experience and the ability to work independently
• A good level of digital competence, including experience using databases and spreadsheets
• A positive and collegial attitude, alongside excellent self-management skills
• Basic project management or event coordination skills
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Physical capability (as some work requires the packing and lifting of heavy boxes)
The role may require some evening work and occasional out-of-town travel (you must hold a clean, full driving licence).
The successful candidate will be a self-starter—creative and organised—with an ability to work in two fields: supporting Liaison Officers and prospective students around Te Waipounamu, and managing Campus Tours. You will be a person who enjoys working as part of a team, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, and can also work with a degree of autonomy.
Excellent English (both written and spoken) is required.
Proficiency in spoken or written te reo Māori is an advantage.
