**Community Transport Coordinator**

Are you keen to play a proactive part in making school travel safer, healthier, and more fun? With over 500 schools in Auckland, Auckland Transport (AT) is looking for someone who is passionate about working with schools and communities to develop and deliver travel behaviour change and road safety programmes. This is a role that contributes to making journeys safer and easier, reducing transport emissions to combat climate change, and building capabilities within communities.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

You will engage Auckland schools, parent/ adult volunteers, communities and internal teams to deliver the Travelwise and/ or Walking School Bus programmes. You will work closely with school principals, teachers, students, and parents/ whānau to promote our programmes, develop safe and active school travel plans, plan and deliver school activities, recruit parents as volunteers, and provide support and resources to deepen their commitment and involvement in safe and active travel. You will also work in project teams to deliver region-wide events. You will partner with agencies including Waka Kotahi and New Zealand Police, engaging them to support the delivery of our programmes and provide support to them to meet common goals that we share. You will be involved in supporting internal teams with consultations and projects arounds schools, facilitating the resolution of issues and advocating for schools and communities. You will be working in a supportive team environment alongside other passionate coordinators.

This is a permanent full-time role. You will be based primarily in Albany and Henderson and will be required to travel to other parts of the region periodically.

This role is deemed a safety-sensitive position and will require the successful applicant to undertake pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

- Experience and confidence engaging communities on behaviour change, active travel, and road safety activities
- Ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- Ability to work as part of a team and across teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills
