Our vision at Whangārei Girls' High School is to empower and uplift the young women of Whangārei and their families.

We are seeking a part-time Science Laboratory Technician to work in the Science Faculty supporting curriculum delivery and managing the science laboratories.

This is a permanent part-time position working 21 Hours per week 3 days a week Term-time only, to work alongside the existing technician.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare and test equipment, chemicals and materials for practical student experiments.
  • Manage and maintain all laboratory equipment, stock, materials and storage systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety procedures and legislation.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a relevant science qualification
  • Has experience safely handling and storing chemicals
  • Has strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with students and teaching staff.
  • Shows a professional and proactive approach to laboratory management.

Applicants must have held a full drivers licence for 5 years.

A police background check will be required for this position.
