We are looking for a motivated person with SME financial accounting and reporting experience to join our law firm working within our senior leadership team on our general, business and trust accounting functions. Senior management career advancements are available for the right candidate. An accounting qualification is advantageous, though not essential if you have solid commercial SME accounting experience and a positive, can-do attitude with a passion for continuous improvement and best practice.

Farry Law is a boutique full-service law firm based on the waterfront in the CBD.

We act for a wide variety of national and international clients including private clients, SMEs and large corporations and have a highly skilled team who deliver quality results to those clients.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the firm's financial accounting and report to the Managing Director.  Your key duties will include the following:

  • Administration of general business and associated company accounts on Xero
  • Direct engagement with the firm's external accounts.
  • Trust account management
  • Manage cashflow forecasting and monitor daily cash positions and payments
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations, financial reporting and GST returns
  • Full function accounts payable and credit control
  • Payroll processing and PAYE returns

What You'll Bring to the Role:

You are a motivated and experienced accountant with a keen eye for detail and an analytical mindset.

You have the ability to take full responsibility for the end-to-end accounting functions. To thrive in this role, you'll bring a strong foundation in financial accounting and reporting and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.  Key skills and attributes include:

  • Solid hands-on accounting experience across the full range of functions listed above.
  • A good understanding of financial accounting, reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with trust accounting, AML compliance and working in a law firm is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High proficiency across Xero and the Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and comfortable adapting to new software/systems.
