About the role
Kernel is growing – and fast. We've doubled year on year for the past six years, now trusted by 40,000+ Kiwis with over $2B invested, and on track for another stellar 12 months ahead. As our customer base grows, we're on the lookout for a driven Marketing Executive to lead our content, events, and social strategy.
This role is a key part of Kernel's marketing team, helping bring our brand and products to life through content and events. You'll be involved in planning and delivering customer and partner experiences, from webinars to in-person gatherings and publishing content across all our owned channels like our blog, social channels, podcast and website.
You'll work closely with our Head of Marketing, a future Marketing Manager and the wider marketing team to turn ideas into action. That means coordinating logistics, creating on-brand assets, and keeping projects on track and on budget.
It's a hands-on role for someone who's organised, creative, and confident managing multiple work streams. You'll enjoy the detail of execution and be comfortable working in a regulated fintech environment, where clarity and consistency matter.
About Kernel
We're a 100% Kiwi owned and operated fintech on a mission to make wealth accessible for every Kiwi. Our investment platform takes the guesswork out of investing – offering KiwiSaver, Managed Funds, US shares & ETFs, and Smart Saver accounts, all in one place with some of the lowest fees in the market.
We're at an exciting stage. Scaling fast, expanding our team of globally experienced financial professionals, and building the foundations for what's next. Our culture is collaborative, hands-on and ambitious – built on trust, innovation and saying it like it is. We value diverse perspectives, empower individuality, and believe the best ideas come from thinking together.
Things move quickly here, and every person plays a key role in shaping our future.
What you'll do
- Deliver standout events and sponsorships
- Plan and run customer and partner events end-to-end, from venues and invites to run sheets and post-event insights
- Coordinate sponsorship deliverables and ensure brand visibility is on point
Track event metrics and share learnings with the team
Create content that educates and engages
- Contribute to Kernel's content strategy with the Marketing Manager
- Write and publish blogs, EDMs, and landing pages; brief tools or calculators when needed
- Review content for clarity, consistency, and compliance
Maintain the content calendar and optimise for SEO
Own the podcast experience
- Manage episode planning, guest prep, recording logistics, and promotional assets
Keep publishing consistent and drive listenership across channels
Grow our social presence
- Execute content across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to support wider marketing campaigns and our content strategy.
- Create and adapt social assets using templates; write copy that fits Kernel's voice
Monitor engagement and escalate queries when needed
Enable the sales team
- Create comms packs for events and sales—invites, decks, one-pagers, FAQs
- Support post-event follow-up with the Lifecycle Marketing Manager
Keep collateral current, compliant, and accessible
Keep things running smoothly
- Report on performance across content, social, podcast, and events
- Spot opportunities to improve and test new ideas with the Lifecycle Specialist
- Manage freelancers, process invoices, and maintain calendars and asset libraries
- Support affiliate and influencer relationships that align with Kernel's goals
You'll be great if you bring
2–3 years' experience in marketing, events, or content
Strong writing and editing skills, confident drafting blogs, EDMs, social copy, and landing page content, with sharp attention to detail
Proven experience coordinating events, handling logistics, suppliers, run sheets, and on-the-day execution
