Tōtara Health is looking for an experienced Administrator/Receptionist to join our wonderful Customer Service Team. We are looking for customer service staff with compassion and care to support our patients in a busy and dynamic environment. This is a crucial role as our Customer Service Team are often the first and last contact for our patients and wider community.

This role includes weekday work between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pm (8 hour shifts). We will consider applications for part time or full time work.

About Tōtara Health

Established in 2003, Tōtara Health is a general practice with a focus on providing high quality, low cost health care to our enrolled patient population. We have two clinics, one in Hastings and one in Flaxmere in Hawkes Bay. We serve a population of largely Māori, Pacific and low income New Zealanders and have built and grown our general practice specifically to serve this community. We want to enable our whānau (our patients) to enjoy the benefits and opportunities that wellness brings.

We currently have 15 Customer Service staff working across our two clinics. These staff support our patients and our staff by managing inbound and outbound calls, face to face reception duties and administrative tasks.

About You

  • You will be passionate about making a difference for our community of enrolled patients. This includes having empathy for our patients and a commitment to provide the highest standard of customer service.
  • You will have at least 2 years' experience in customer service and administration, ideally in the health sector.
  • You will be solution focused, using your initiative, always looking after our patients and providing a welcoming, safe, trusted environment for them and their whānau.
  • You will have a calm professional demeanour, with the ability to maintain performance under stress.
  • You will have the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • You will have an understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture (or a willingness to learn).
  • You will have a natural ability to build strong working relationships across a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Nurses, Counsellors, Pharmacists, Health Improvement Practitioners, Health Coaches and Administrative staff.
  • Experience with Medtech Evolution is advantageous.
