The Opportunity
This is a leadership role within one of New Zealand's largest integrated agricultural operations. You'll guide the development and delivery of a safety strategy that keeps people safe and builds a strong safety culture at every level of the business.
Working closely with managers, contractors, and senior leaders, you'll take ownership of safety systems and performance improvement across the organisation. The position reports to the People & Culture Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing development and implementation of Health & Safety systems, policies, and procedures across all operational sites.
- Partner with key stakeholders to build capability and ownership of safety outcomes.
- Identify risks and improvement opportunities, analysing data to guide strategic safety decisions.
- Coach and support operational leaders in training, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare reports for senior management and the Board Health & Safety Committee, including strategy execution and performance updates.
- Represent the organisation with regional and industry stakeholders to share learnings and lift standards sector-wide.
What You'll Bring
- Proven leadership experience in health and safety within agriculture, food production, or another high-risk environment.
- Sound understanding of New Zealand H&S legislation and best practice.
- Strength in stakeholder engagement, coaching, and influencing operational leaders.
- Analytical capability and confidence managing audit, data, and reporting processes.
- A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with a genuine focus on people and improvement.
