We are seeking two well-experienced Cooks for our Indian restaurant in Ashburton. The ideal candidate must be physically fit and have a sound knowledge and experience in the eatery.

Attention to detail and demonstrated culinary and sanitary knowledge are essential. We want someone with creativity and passion to help us produce innovative and authentic Indian dishes and curries.

Job duties may include:

· Prepare, cook, and present a variety of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, street food, biryanis, kebabs, Roll, South Indian dishes, Indo-Chinese and traditional breads.

· Assist in developing and refining menu items to maintain authenticity while incorporating customer feedback and seasonal ingredients.

· Managing food preparation, cooking, and plating with attention to quality, flavor, and presentation.

· Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment, including tandoor ovens, to ensure safety and efficiency.

· Monitoring food stock, manage inventory, and minimize waste.

· Ensuring the kitchen meets health, safety, and hygiene standards in-terms of cleanliness at all times.

· Collaborating with the management team to create unique dishes and seasonal menus.

· Controlling costs for food

· Ordering food supplies

· Refrigeration and storing of food at the correct temperatures

Skills and experience for the role:

· Proven 2 years of relevant work experience or a relevant

qualification

· Ability to prepare a wide range of northern and south Indian dishes, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Tandoori and regional specialties.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

· Flexible to work in late evening shifts, weekends, holidays and public holidays.

· Free from drug and criminal history

Minimum 30 hours a week.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
