Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai Board and Maori Advisory Group member roles
On behalf of the Minister of Local Government, the Department of Internal Affairs is seeking candidates interested in serving as a member of the Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai Board or Maori Advisory Group.
The Water Services Authority (the Authority) is a Crown entity established in 2021 by the Water Services Authority-Taumata Arowai Act 2020. The Authority is the water services regulator for New Zealand. Information about the Authority can be found at

Candidates for the Board should possess several of the following attributes - knowledge, skills, and experience in:
- the water sector;
- the compliance, monitoring, and enforcement activities of regulatory agencies and/or the delivery of cost effective regulation;
- governance of Crown entities or commercial entities;
- financial management and/or commercial experience;
- local government;
- the delivery and maintenance of infrastructure networks;
- public health, particularly in relation to the objectives and functions of the Authority;
- economic regulation; and
- data and information management.
Candidates for the Maori Advisory Group should possess knowledge and experience of, and capability in, providing advice on matauranga Maori, tikanga Maori, and kaitiakitanga, particularly as it relates to water.
It is also preferable for Maori Advisory Group members to have some understanding of working within a regulatory environment and the role of Crown entities, and experience in public health and/or operational local government.
