As part of our continued commitment to delivering high-impact infrastructure solutions across Aotearoa, Tonkin + Taylor is seeking experienced a Programme/Project/Design Manager to join our Project Delivery Group, ideally in Auckland but will consider other locations

This opportunity reflects our focus on strengthening project leadership capability across key sectors, ensuring we continue to deliver excellence for our clients and communities. If you're a proactive professional with a background in civil infrastructure, water engineering, or energy, and you're ready to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll provide specialist project management services across a diverse portfolio of projects and clients, including:

  • Leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver infrastructure projects and/or programmes from business case through to construction
  • Managing design packages for transport, energy, water, waste, commercial, and environmental infrastructure
  • Implementing project controls: financial tracking, earned value reporting, risk and contract management, compliance, and quality assurance
  • Coordinating inputs from technical disciplines including geology, hydrology, geotechnical, structural, and contaminated land
  • Facilitating stakeholder engagement, including regulatory bodies and client workshops
  • Promoting digital tools and sustainable practices across project delivery

We're looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy leading high-performing teams. You'll bring:

  • 10+ years' experience in project/design management, ideally in civil infrastructure, energy, or water sectors
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex projects
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, contract and financial management skills
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a design-centric consulting environment
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera) and strong Excel capability
  • PMP or similar project management qualification (or interest in pursuing one)
