The Opportunity | Te Kōwhiringa

As a Quantity Surveyor , you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of projects by managing procurement, cost control, and contract administration. You'll work closely with Project Managers and the Project Controls Manager to ensure accuracy, transparency, and best practice across all commercial processes.

This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, can work across multiple disciplines, and takes pride in delivering exceptional commercial outcomes.

We will consider a FIFO option for the right candidate.

Your Responsibilities

Procurement Management

  • Oversee the procurement process from tender through to appointment
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier appointments
  • Prepare monthly certifications and compile subcontractor payments
  • Provide procurement support to project management teams
  • Perform quantity take-offs, gains, and omissions reporting

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and manage subcontracts and related correspondence
  • Support dispute resolution and contract compliance
  • Manage the subcontract review and approval process
  • Monitor subcontract performance and contract obligations

Cost Engineering & Estimating

  • Lead estimating and cost control functions
  • Conduct cost analysis and forecasting
  • Support change management and scope analysis
  • Maintain trend analysis and ensure accurate reporting

Change Management and Controls

  • Manage change order control and variation processes
  • Analyse cost trends and project performance impacts
  • Ensure all scope changes are captured, evaluated, and approved

General Project Support

  • Support the Project Manager and Project Controls Manager with commercial and reporting tasks
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in project controls systems
  • Contribute to the overall financial health and success of the project

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Matua

We're looking for someone with strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and integrity.

You will have:

  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying (NZCQS, NZCE, or equivalent)
  • Solid experience in civil construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and contract management processes
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Jobpac (or similar project systems)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    A proactive, team-focused attitude with the ability to influence and build relationships
