Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand Tompkins Wake Full time

We're looking for a Property Senior Solicitor or Associate to join our market-leading Property team in Hamilton. In this role, you'll work on a variety of property matters, including commercial property transactions, residential property, subdivisions, local government, trusts, estate planning, and asset protection.

You will work alongside a team of experts, managing your own matters and client relationships while providing valuable support to senior colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, experienced solicitor to develop their career, take on more responsibility, and enjoy strong progression prospects.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will manage your own client matters, draft and negotiate legal documents, and work on a diverse range of property-related transactions. You'll also assist with client relationship management and provide mentoring to junior lawyers, depending on your experience. You will report to the partners and collaborate closely with the team to deliver exceptional service to clients across the Waikato and beyond.

What You'll Bring

  • Between 5 and 10 years' PQE in property and private client law
  • Proven experience managing all aspects of property transactions, from residential conveyancing, leasing and retirement village transactions to complex development work.
  • Local government experience is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Strong expertise in trusts, estate planning and asset protection.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a client-centric approach.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and offer strategic legal advice.
  • Experience mentoring junior lawyers or providing guidance on legal matters.

Why Join Us?

At Tompkins Wake, we pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture where our team members are empowered to succeed. We are a nationally recognised law firm that values excellence, client service, and professional growth.
