Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an early to mid-career academic in Human-Centred Computing, with the aspiration to develop strong leadership and progress your research goals. This full-time role is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish, and promote collaborations with the industry, and contribute to outreach events. 

Salary will be in the range of $90,125 to $107,452 (Lecturer) or $110,392 to $144,817 (Senior Lecturer) per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at our Hillcrest Campus.

We are seeking to grow our team in Human-Centred Computing with the addition of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer who enhances our research strengths, creates engaging teaching experiences, and contributes to our outreach programmes. The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including successful supervision of Masters and Doctoral students. Additionally, experience with external funding is strongly preferred as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes.

Au Reikura – The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato comprises four discipline groups. The Software Engineering group has research strengths in areas such as human-centred computing, internet of things, and software correctness. Software Engineering is closely aligned with the Computer Science programme where we have a strong presence in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.
