About the role
We have opportunities for building control officers to join our building solutions team. Our building control officers are responsible for ensuring Council's obligations with regard to building control legislation. Building control officers are a critical part of our team delivering both processing and inspecting of building consents for Southland.
Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- granting and issuing building consents and project information memoranda
- undertake inspections of building work to ensure it meets the requirements of the Building Code.
- issuing supporting documentation including code compliance certificates and compliance schedules/statements
- ensure all documentation is issued within legislative time constraints and in alignment with building code regulations
- our senior building control officers also mentor junior team members to achieve competencies and provide vital technical support to our team leaders
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- building industry experience
- a technical qualification in alignment with building regulation 18 or equivalent
- Ideally Res1 and Res2 competencies
- a strong drive to succeed and be motivated by continuous improvement
- high attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
We welcome applications from experienced and qualified Building Control Officers who hold both residential and commercial competencies, who may be seeking opportunities to work in Te Anau. We are also open to considering applicants at all levels - entry level BCO, signatory and/or senior.
