Large Animal Veterinarian
Grow your career. Shape a new practice. Take the opportunity.
Country Vets is a new private practice serving dairy, sheep, beef and deer farms. We are looking for a driven individual wanting to further themselves in private practice. Someone who sees the potential a new start-up clinic can offer and is not afraid to step into it.
We are building a clinic grounded in trust, capability and long-term relationships. We are not a vet club and we are not a corporate. We are a small team creating something fresh, practical and farmer focused. We will be growing the clinic, client base and our team so get in now. Based in Taupō, you will enjoy a strong rural community and the lifestyle that comes with it.
The work
A production-animal caseload with room to focus on the species you enjoy most. We are not species rigid and can flex the workload to fit the right person. The technical work is familiar, but this role offers the freedom and autonomy to do it right.
- Strong on-farm relationships with clients who want straight, practical advice.
- The chance to help shape clinical standards and ways of working as the clinic grows.
- Space to bring your strengths into a business that is not locked into old habits.
- We will set you up with the right tools, systems and support so you can do your best work on-farm.
Why this role
• New clinic with room to influence how things run and how your role grows.
• Private practice with the independence to do what is right for clients.
• Support that fits the individual. Day-to-day back-up, CPD and mentoring shaped around you.
• A varied and interesting production-animal workload shaped around your interests.
• Clients who value long-term partnership with their vet.
• A team of good buggers who back each other.
• On-call is shared fairly across the team.
• As the clinic grows, there will be room to shape your role and follow your clinical interests.
What you will bring
• At least two years' experience in production animal work, whether your focus is dairy or sheep, beef and deer.
• Clear, practical communication and the ability to build trust on-farm.
• Curiosity, initiative and a team mindset.
• Appetite to be part of a start-up clinic and contribute to how it grows.
• Interest in taking on more responsibility as the business expands.
What you get
• A genuine chance to influence a new practice and be part of its growth.
• Strong support and room to develop your skills and interests.
• A community that values honest work and straight relationships.
• The satisfaction of doing great vet work in a place that values you.
• A lifestyle grounded in rural community and the outdoors.
Remuneration will be generous for the right applicant. We can iron that out together. If the idea of shaping a new clinic excites you, get in touch.
Let's talk about what you are looking for and whether Country Vets could be a great fit.
