We're a social enterprise café serving excellent kai, great coffee and genuine hospitality to people from all walks of life including those who are isolated, marginalised or experiencing homelessness.

We're looking for a Chef de Partie who cares about people as much as good food.

  • The hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 am—2:30 pm, and there is no weekend or public holiday shifts (though occasional flexibility may be required for events, after-hours fundraisers, or catering).

Duties | Mahi

You'll support the Head Chef and help keep our kitchen running smoothly. Your mahi will include:

  • Preparing and cooking meals to a high standard
  • Keeping kitchen areas clean, safe, and organised
  • Managing stock, labelling, rotation, and hygiene
  • Assisting front-of-house during busy times
  • Supporting staff and volunteers with kindness and respect
  • Helping create weekly lunch and cabinet menus
  • Upholding health & safety and food hygiene standards

Skills & Experience | Pukenga & wheako

  • 3+ years' experience in a professional café kitchen
  • Culinary training (NZQA Level 3 or 4 preferred)
  • Food-handling certificate
  • Friendly, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • Willing to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and move kitchen equipment safely
  • Barista or baking experience (bonus)
  • Flexibility to work extra shifts when needed
