Oyster and Chop is a premium dining destination in the heart of Auckland's Viaduct Harbour, renowned for its fresh oysters, premium steaks, and vibrant atmosphere. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Chef de Partie to join our talented kitchen brigade. This is a full time position with a minimum of 35 hours per week

About the Role

As a Chef de Partie, you will play an integral role in delivering the high standards of food quality and presentation that Oyster and Chop is known for. Working closely with the Executive Chef, Head Chef, and Sous Chefs, you will manage your own section, ensure mise en place is prepared to perfection, and help train junior chefs. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic and professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard, following recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain correct portion control and ensure mise en place is ready for service.
  • Work efficiently during service, ensuring smooth communication with the front of house team.
  • Assist with stock control, deliveries, and proper storage, ensuring all food is labelled, dated, and rotated.
  • Uphold the highest standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and personal grooming.
  • Support and guide junior chefs, including Commis and Demi Chefs.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment.

About You

  • You must be currently living in New Zealand.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Chef de Partie in a quality restaurant or hotel kitchen.
  • Strong technical cooking skills with the ability to run your section independently.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and best kitchen practices.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work efficiently under pressure.
  • A team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Passionate about producing high-quality food and eager to learn and develop further.
