EOI - Dog Handler - Auckland Prison and Auckland South (Serco)

Please be advised that due to current vacancies, the National Detector Dog Team are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from current Operational Detector Dog Handlers employed by the Department of Corrections, New Zealand for the following positions:
Northern Region - based at Auckland Prison (1 position)
Central / Waikato Region - based at Auckland South Prison (2 positions)
The Northern vacancy is based at Auckland Prison reporting to the Northern Detector Dog Manager, whilst the Auckland South Prison vacancies report to the Regional Detector Manager, Waikato Region.
These positions are regional resources and will at times be required to work anywhere in the regions or nationally if requested.
If there is no interest within the section, it is intended that these positions will be advertised on Tatou in early 2026.
- Prior to any application, please discuss your intentions with your current Manager in the first instance.
- Please clearly identify which position you are applying for.
- Approval will be dependent on current operational requirements and needs.
- You may be required to remain in your current region until your replacement is operational and ready to fill the vacancy created by your transfer unless prior arrangements are agreed upon by your current Manager.
- There are no relocation costs for any successful Detector Dog handlers.
