New Zealand Winegrowers (NZW) are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our tight knit, high performing team on a fixed term basis to cover parental leave from December 2025 /January 2026 until 31 August 2026.

This role will provide support for our Financial Accountant with day-to-day accounting, reporting and administrative tasks.

About the role

We are looking for a fixed term Assistant Accountant who can take responsibility for the following:

  • Credit Control/ Accounts Receivable - invoicing, reconciliations and queries
  • Assistance with monthly reporting as required
  • General ledger reconciliations
  • GST returns
  • Accounts Payable - data entry and reconciliations
  • General accounts administration - data entry and filing
  • Other accounts duties as required depending on experience and circumstances

About you

  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Accounting or other tertiary qualification (desirable)
  • Good IT skills in particular Microsoft Word, Excel, MYOB, Xero
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workloads in an effective, timely and accurate manner (attention to detail is a must)
  • Can anticipate change, remain flexible and be innovative
  • Prior knowledge of the wine industry or primary sector (desirable)
