About us

Habitat for Humanity Central Region is a charity and Community Housing Provider with a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We support people to buy, repair, or rent a place to call home in communities from the Waikato through to Wellington.

ReStore and Reuse charity shops raise vital funds that support our work. They're a place for people to buy affordable second-hand goods, donate their pre-loved stuff and keep it out of landfill, lend a hand for a good cause, and connect with our mission.

The role

We're looking for an experienced retail or logistics leader to take our Rotorua op-shop to the next level. You'll be the heart of our store, driving sales and donations of goods, while leading a small team of staff and volunteers.

You'll lead from the front, love getting stuck in and tackling all sorts of jobs alongside your team, and have good physical fitness to help lift and move goods.

This is a 33 hours per week role, with weekend work sometimes required. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal record check and must have full and permanent legal right to work in New Zealand.

About you

  • 5 years minimum retail or logistics leadership experience – can motivate, mentor and inspire a team
  • Excellent communicator, you handle sensitive issues with professionalism while fostering open communication
  • Can manage complex admin tasks within efficient systems, and ensure compliance of policies and procedures for the store and team
  • Great at building relationships
  • Approaches conflict resolution with maturity and confidence
  • A stickler for best practice and competitiveness to succeed
  • Health and safety management experience
  • Practical experience in financial management, overseeing budgets, controlling costs, analysing financial data, and efficiency
  • Savvy with sales strategies, potential to identify what's needed to meet customer needs, keep stock moving, and maximise income
  • Strong empathy for people – you'll be required to recruit and retain volunteers and match their unique skills to tasks daily
  • High computer and digital literacy (Office 365 and cloud based systems/databases essential)
  • Knowledge of charity reuse retail an advantage, but not essential
