We are looking for a passionate and dynamic culinary professional to join our team as an Academic Staff Member at the Nelson Campus. Collaborating with a team of experienced educators within the Service Industries Department, this role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of culinary professionals. This position is permanent, full time (1.0 FTE) working 36 hours per week.

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Deliver engaging, student-centered teaching and learning across cookery programmes.

  • Actively participate in training practical activities within the kitchen and provide hands-on support to learners.

  • Develop, structure, and evaluate learning materials, schedules, and assessments.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.

About you / He kōrero mōu

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • National Certificate in Cookery or equivalent.

  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5).

  • A minimum of six years' industry experience, including one year of current practice.

  • Preferably holds 11522: Design and evaluate assessment material.

  • Unit Standards 4098: Use standards to assess candidate performance
