Established in 1986, Wiri Timber is a family-owned Auckland business dedicated to providing exceptional quality and service in the manufacture of residential frames and trusses, along with the supply of a wide range of building materials. We are now looking for a driven, motivated and resilient Trainee Sales Representative—someone with a background in sales and the ambition to build a career in our industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who thrives on developing new business and delivering results. You will be trained to generate tangible outcomes in the form of profitable sales and frame & truss orders without compromising margin.


The Role

Based at our Mt Roskill branch, you will learn all aspects of sales within the building supply and frame & truss sector. Supported by our estimating, design, trade yard, sales support and manufacturing teams, you will:

  • Build and nurture customer relationships
  • Actively seek out and convert new business opportunities
  • Learn how to generate profitable frame and truss orders—without sacrificing margin
  • Manage a call cycle and sales pipeline - requires some sales administration
  • Understand customer building requirements and proactively identify how we can support them
  • Deliver outstanding service and follow-through

This role is suited to someone who is hands-on, eager to grow, and ready to make a measurable impact.


What We're Looking For

You must bring:

  • Strong personal drive, resilience, and motivation to hunt for new business
  • A background in sales or customer-facing roles
  • While previous sales experience does not need to be in building supplies, having a background in the building industry—along with an understanding of building processes or existing industry connections—would be highly advantageous
  • A solutions-focused, "find a way" attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confidence with technology and learning new systems
  • Organisational skills, honesty, and a stable work history
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Mandarin or Cantonese language ability is advantageous, not essential

Experience selling timber or frame & truss would be beneficial but is not required for the right driven trainee.
