As the Senior Payroll and Systems Lead, you will manage and oversee all payroll and HRIS systems across NMIT, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations. You will provide expert advice to staff and managers, lead system upgrades and process improvements, and support organisational initiatives related to payroll, HR systems, and workforce management. This position is a full time permanent (1.0 FTE), 37.5 hours per week, on our Nelson Campus.
The key responsibilities for the role are:
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, HRIS updates, and compliance with legislation and agreements.
- Maintain, upgrade, and optimise payroll and HR systems, resolving technical issues as they arise.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on payroll, entitlements, and related policies.
- Prepare reports and analyses to inform management decisions and support organisational planning.

To be successful in this role you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in payroll processing, HRIS management, and compliance with employment law.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to problem-solve and implement system/process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
