Do you thrive on creating memorable dining experiences and leading with warmth and professionalism? Tahu, Gisborne's only beachfront restaurant and bar, is looking for a passionate Duty Manager & Maître D' to help us deliver exceptional service and hospitality right on the sand.

Situated within the stunning Midway Community Hub, Tahu has been open for nearly two years and has fast become a local favourite — known for its relaxed coastal vibe, creative food and drinks, and unbeatable ocean views.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth, professional service.
  • Welcome and host guests with genuine hospitality, setting the tone for their experience.
  • Support and lead staff during service, maintaining high standards of presentation and efficiency.
  • Manage bookings, floor flow, and communication between front and back of house.
  • Uphold all licensing and Duty Manager requirements to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment where staff feel supported and valued.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Duty Manager, Maître D', or senior FOH role in a quality venue.
  • Current Duty Manager's Certificate.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
  • Professional presentation and a calm, confident presence.
  • A love for hospitality, teamwork, and creating experiences that guests remember.
